The seminary is a funny place. "What good men these are" or "I am filled with great hope for the Church," can be heard from visitors to the seminary. But if you were to ever visit and observe things at a seminary at length, your perspective might widen some. So and so forgot to set the lectionary before Mass, or this one gave a homily that flopped, or that one completely misunderstood the reading for class. Is the seminary a great place? Yes, it is. But is it perfect? No, it is an imperfect institution filled with flawed persons striving toward perfection. So what makes it funny? The fact that God weaves the web of his perfect will with these imperfect threads. Is God calling you to the priesthood?
